As we grow older, many of us are in a quandary. Should we keep living where we are now or move away to a more ideal location? If you’ve worked hard all these years, you deserve it, right? For those who are seeking luxury in a stunning location and an active & social lifestyle, you may want to consider The Landings – a resort-like community and home of The Landings Club on Skidaway Island in Savannah, Georgia.

Why live at The Landings?
Skidaway Island is approximately 9 miles from the historic and enchanting downtown Savannah. The Landings Company is a 6300-acre gated community on the island. However, it’s not strictly a retirement village. Retirees and families of all ages live there.
The idea of living in a multi-generational neighborhood rather than one that is exclusively 50 and over is a plus, as far as I’m concerned.
The property has 30 miles of walking, biking, and jogging trails including Skidaway Island State Park. There are several parks within the grounds, including a dog park, playgrounds, 2 deep-water marinas, athletic fields, and picnic areas. Put your green thumb to work in the community garden.
And all this is just a quick jaunt to downtown Savannah where you can indulge in cultural experiences, world-class cuisine, Southern hospitality and all the conveniences the city affords.
The Landings Club
As if that wasn’t enough to get you excited, one of the most enticing features of the community is The Landings Club. Your exclusive membership gives you access to 6 championship golf courses all within a short cart ride from each other, 31 tennis courts, 10 pickleball courts, 8 bocce ball courts, four unique clubhouses that offer farm-to-table dining, swimming pools, and a newly renovated 50,000 square-foot wellness center.

Talk about luxury!
But that’s not all. What you’ll find as a member goes beyond all that. Club membership opens you up to new experiences, relaxing environments, new connections and friendships, and chances to create unforgettable memories.
The Wellness Center and Spa

If you want to stay in shape this is the place to do it and offers something for everyone at any fitness level. Swim in 2 indoor pools (lap and therapy) or enjoy the sunshine at the outdoor adult pool, play tennis, workout with a personal trainer in the TechnoGym, receive physical therapy sessions in partnership with St. Josephs/Candler, the region’s premier health facility, or take group exercise classes or more. The list of activities goes on and on.

But, imagine having a spa on the property you can go to whenever you want to relax, have a massage or facial, or even get an acupuncture treatment. Sounds pretty awesome to me!
Golf Courses

If you or your husband are golf aficionados a membership at The Landings Club includes being able to play at six world-class 18-hole courses designed by golf pros like Arnold Palmer and other pros. But what makes them more special is that the surrounding environment is exquisitely beautiful and serene.
All six courses have been deemed “Audubon Cooperative Sanctuaries” by the Audubon Society and include hardwood forests, saltwater marshes, and tidal creeks that make Skidaway Island such a premiere location.
The Club’s mission

To make The Club experience the best for all its members, they have a mission:
“To provide members with a robust assortment of luxury amenities that help them live an active lifestyle. To create a caring, well connected and engaged membership community that seeks to spread the word about the incredibly fulfilling lifestyle at The Landings. To be a forward-looking, ever-evolving and continuously improving Club that considers members’ needs first as well as societal trends to remain relevant and worthy of support and patronage. To position itself as the “must live there” club vs. the “must play there” club.
There are 5 first-class dining venues that are available for Club members and each is unique and incredibly delicious. Because it’s an island community, the seafood is not only fresh, it’s incredible! You can’t go wrong scheduling special events like weddings or meetings or simply meet-up with friends for Happy Hour.

I was just talking about this, I’m from the East Coast living in the Midwest and just working out where I want to be next. I’m definitely looking for a warmer climate year round and beaches. This community sounds gorgeous, seems to have something for everyone.
It sure does, Karen. It would be like living in Paradise. So worth looking into.
