I’m a fun junkie and not into taking life too seriously, although it’s challenging sometimes. Fun is part of my nature. My DISC style is high-I, meaning – influencer. I’s are people who love to be on stage and live to have fun. However, I’m not a total extrovert (unless I’ve had tequila and there’s dancing involved) because I’m also a high-S. An S craves some security and is a nurturer. My S keeps me grounded so I’m not completely off the wall. I also have some C-Compliant (Analytical and detail oriented) but only enough to bring out my inner nerd. My D – Dominant – is low meaning I’m more of a team-player than a hard-ass.
If none of this makes sense to you, it doesn’t matter. I work with a woman who teaches DISC to corporate trainers so I’m familiar with the concept. She has clients take a style assessment that determines their strengths and weaknesses and how they deal with others. The purpose is to help improve communication skills and interaction between individuals or teams. It’s come in handy for me many times.
In astrology, I’m a Sagittarius. We’re laid back, adaptable, and fun-loving.
Taking life too seriously is a prescription for a headache
Just because I’m fun-loving doesn’t mean I need to be at a perennial party. That would be exhausting. I get serious once in a while. But, I do need to keep life interesting with as little stress as possible even if it isn’t always perfect. We can only set intentions and then take actions to steer our lives in the right direction and from there, we improvise.
Everyone’s definition of fun is different
Fun for me is being able to travel several times a year. I love discovering exciting destinations and if I can’t I go to events within my city limits. Culture, food, and learning something new stimulates and thrills me. If money were no object I’d travel the world all the time. But darn! I never hooked up with that billionaire sugar Daddy! Instead, I look for ways to have fun for free. Where there’s a will, there’s a way, right?
You don’t have to spend money to have a good time
When life gets dull, play with a little kid or puppy dog. They’ll bring out levity in even the worst situations. There are a million things to do to avoid the doldrums. Even simple things like hanging out in a park, relaxing on a beach or treating yourself to a manicure can break up a dreary day. Just don’t sit around and mope.
It’s all about who you hang out with
I enjoy spending time by myself, but when I’m with people, I like to hang out with friends who are smart, progressive, and can take a joke. I avoid confrontation because arguing isn’t my thing even though some people thrive on it. Friends who love to laugh and have a sense of humor are gold. People who are into taking life too seriously can be energy vampires who suck the life out of you.
Now that the world in on the verge of blowing up and human decency is becoming extinct, (just kidding) what do you love to do to have pure, unadulterated fun?
