When the weather gets cool there’s nothing like a classy cardigan sweater to warm you up and to layer over your clothes. They’re also perfect to cover up a woman over 50’s muffin-top and other flaws. A while back I was given the opportunity to review an item from NIC+ZOE. After browsing their online shopping website, I picked out a beige/gold fringed long cardigan sweater that immediately stood out to me.
I tend to look for fun and unusual designs and loved the gold flecks and fringe. (Although, I have to be careful not to catch it on things when I walk) The sleeves are 3/4 length, which I love because I regularly dip my sleeves in my soup. In the image above, I wore black pants and a black shell top underneath to disguise a few lumps I’m diligently working off.
My mother was a dressmaker and spoiled me for clothes.
Mom made all my clothes when I was a kid and was an excellent seamstress. She had her own business as a dressmaker and did alterations. I saw how she carefully perfected every stitch and was always proud of the quality of her finished products. Now, when I shop at a store I often cringe at the shoddy work and get frustrated when seams come loose. It’s important to me that my clothes be well constructed. When my cardigan sweater arrived in the mail, I was impressed at how well it was made.
Nic + Zoe evolves
Nic + Zoe is for active and creative women who want to make a statement in what they wear. Their designs are artful and sophisticated but also functional. The company was started in 2006 by Dorian Lightbown. She wanted to move women away from a structured business suit to a much more individual and classy look that works in an office and into the night. I find their clothes to be inspired and innovative with flattering lines, particularly their knits.
Their designs exude an urban chic but are comfortable and move with you.
