One thing I love about blogging is having the opportunity to review products. And. . . as a woman over 50. . . I especially love trying anti-aging beauty products. I wrote a post called How to Know if Your Skin Care Ingredients are Harmful to Your Health and mentioned several organic skin care lines. One of them was Juice Beauty. They generously sent me a collection of items to try and I’ve been using them for several weeks.
About the Company
Juice Beauty was launched in 2004 by Karen Behnke, who is a wellness entrepreneur. She wanted to find healthy skin care solutions that were made with natural ingredients backed by science. Each product her company develops consists of a vitamin-rich botanical juice base that’s blended with anti-aging antioxidants. They’re formulated under the guidance of experts that include Ph.D. chemists, physicians, and microbiologists. Each botanical ingredient is sourced from West Coast certified organic farmers.
The company has formed a partnership with Gwyneth Paltrow, who is Creative Director of Makeup and her company “Goop.”
Years ago, I worked as a wardrobe set dresser for “The White Shadow.” It was produced by her father Bruce Paltrow and she would occasionally show up on the set when she was a little kid.
My Juice Beauty results
The products I received are mostly part of Juice Beauty’s STEM CELLULAR™ Anti-Wrinkle Skin Care, which is formulated for mature women. It’s made from fruit stem cells infused into a resveratrol-rich grapeseed base.
- STEM CELLULAR™ Anti-Wrinkle Overnight Cream
- STEM CELLULAR™ Anti-Wrinkle Moisturizer
- STEM CELLULAR™ Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum
- STEM CELLULAR™ Anti-Wrinkle Skin care Exfoliating Peel Spray
- STEM CELLULAR™ Anti-Wrinkle CC Cream in natural glow
- STEM CELLULAR™ Anti-Wrinkle Eye Treatment
In addition to the skin care, they also included:
- Phyto-Pigments Illuminating Primer
- Phyto-Pigments Ultra Natural Mascara
- Phyto-Pigments Satin Lip Cream in Blush
- Phyto-Pigments Luminous Lip Crayon in Malibu
- Phyto-Pigments Flash Luminizer – Cream and Marigold
- Last Looks Blush in Seashell
One product I’d love to try is the Phyto-Pigments Cream Shadow Stick because I’m a huge fan of cream shadow and blush. Hmm. I’ll have to put it on my shopping list.
STEM CELLULAR™ Anti-Wrinkle Skin care
I started off with the skin care products. My first impression was “lemony.” The creams have a fresh citrus scent (made of all natural ingredients, of course.) It’s pleasant and energizing. I apply the serum in the morning and evening. After it sinks into my skin, I smooth on the moisturizer in the morning or the overnight cream at bedtime. My skin feels soft and supple afterward and it doesn’t feel irritated. I was worried about that because I have dry skin and citrus is an ingredient that doesn’t agree with everyone.
After applying the STEM CELLULAR™ skin care, I layer on the illuminating primer. It’s made with coconut alkanes mixed with botanical juices and is infused with an age-defying serum. Its purpose is to illuminate the skin, smooth lines and wrinkles and blur imperfections in the skin so that you radiate with a youthful glow. I’m all in for anything that does all the above.
Next, I apply the CC Cream, which has a broad-spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen. I’ve been using CC cream instead of regular foundation for years. I believe that as you age, less is more. CC stands for “complexion correction.” The shade I was sent is a little light for me. My complexion is more olive. I’m sure the next shade darker would be perfect. I like that it has an applicator spout instead of a squeeze hole. (my description – sorry) It doesn’t feel as moist as the brand I’ve been using and the aroma isn’t as nice as the skin care creams. Because of my dry skin, I like my creams extra moist.
I love the cream blush because the shade is so subtle and natural. (seashell) It gives my skin a radiant glow. My preference has always been cream blush over powder because I love the “dewy” look. When I apply the Flash Luminizers to enhance the blush, my skin glows even more.
(Note) There are instructional videos on the Juice Beauty website to show you how to use each product.
The subtle and natural shades of the lipsticks and lip crayons that Juice Beauty offers are just the right tints to be flattering for older women. My preference is the lip crayon because it’s creamier. It’s also one of the company’s best sellers.
Then there’s the mascara – my nemesis. I’ve worn contacts since I was 14. Most mascaras don’t play nice with me. I was excited to try a natural formulation. Juice Beauty’s Ultra-Natural mascara is made with intense plant-derived Phyto-Pigments and minerals instead of the usual petroleum combustion carbon black. (tar) It has a non-drying formula that adds lash volume and is vegan and cruelty-free.
Despite all that, it doesn’t work for me and makes my eyes water. I had a similar problem with the eye treatment cream. It’s too lemony around the eyes for me. But remember, I’m extra sensitive so they still may work for you if you’re looking for a natural brand.
As I mentioned in previous posts, skin care is an individual decision. All natural and standard brands may have ingredients that cause allergic reactions in different people.
Overall, I’m impressed with the quality of the STEM CELLULAR™ Anti-Wrinkle line and the makeup products. It’s a brand you should definitely try if you want all natural skin care. And Gwyneth is on board, so that’s a plus.
