If you’re a woman over 50, you’ve probably been horrified at the over-abundance of wrinkles lining your face. In theory, wrinkles give you character, an aura of wisdom and display your long colorful history. In reality, we’re still horrified. Not all of us can afford plastic surgery, like many celebrities, or want to endure injections and other painful treatments, so what else can we do?
So many factors add more wrinkles to our face as we age. Sun damage is the worst culprit. It’s healthy to soak up a little sun to absorb natural vitamin D but too many rays cause sun damage. During peak daylight hours sunscreen is a must, even if it’s not sunny. Without sun protection, it’s easy to end up with wrinkles, sun spots, moles, freckles, and even skin cancer.
When I was about 12, my mother sent me to “charm school” at a local department store. A neighbor lady, who worked as a model, taught the class. I learned the importance of taking care of my skin. Since then, I’ve been fervent about cleansing and moisturizing. I’m proud to say my face made it through high school without the usual embarrassing zits.
In 1979, I went to Puerto Vallarta for my honeymoon. In those days, we didn’t hear much about using sunscreen. Instead, we’d slather on baby oil to ensure a better tan. I went out on a party boat for 6 hours and came back with a sunburn that eventually peeled off my body like a lizard. It was a bad move on my part. Now I have the sun spots to prove it.
When I was asked to sample L’Oreal’s Age Perfect Cell Renewal Serum, Night Cream, and Day Cream, I couldn’t wait. I’ve always loved to try skin care products and the idea of “cell renewal” was enticing.
I’ve only been using the product for a short time, so this post will give you my first impression of it. Later, I’ll be reporting about how it’s been working over a period of time.
First off, I love the packaging. It’s très elegant. The product’s gold shimmery containers make it look expensive, even though you can purchase it at a drugstore. I’ve found that you don’t need the most expensive brand to achieve great results. In fact, I’ve had my skin burned by some fancy department store brands. It’s more important to find a product that works well with your individual body chemistry. Everyone tolerates or reacts to skin care differently.
Age Perfect Cell Renewal Golden Serum is silky smooth. It isn’t heavy and works to illuminate as well as soften your skin. Apply it under your day and night cream. I love the way it feels on my skin. It also appears to have a slight shimmer to it.
Age Perfect Cell Renewal Day Cream sports an SPF 15 with SPF 15. I wear contacts and I don’t like using strong sunscreen on my face because it burns my eyes. SPF 15 is mild and it hasn’t been a problem. Other day creams I’ve tried, with stronger SPF, make my eyes water. I end up rubbing my eyes and that causes more wrinkles instead of preventing them. L’Oreal’s day cream is soft and creamy but is not heavy or oily. I have dry skin, so I’m a big fan of creamy moisturizer.
Age Perfect Night Cream is equally luscious. I enjoy slathering it on after washing my face at night.
Overall, I’m impressed. I don’t see any downside to L’Oreal’s Age Perfect cell renewal products at all. The line is affordable and makes my skin feel great. I’d give it 5 stars if I had a star system. LOL. I can’t wait to keep using it and will be reporting on the longer term effects soon. Stay tuned!
